The one good thing the game has to offer is its character customization, which is probably the most extensive one I have ever seen in any MMORPG.

If the game itself wasn't bad enough already, the (global version's) management is also nothing to write home about. There's seasonal events in between "big" updates, but like so much else in the game they're recycled versions of the previous ones and don't change what you're doing normally-you're still running in circles killing trash mobs, but now the enemy models got stickers attached to their foreheads. The current "endgame" consists of either AFKing in a cave and waiting for a recolored boss to spawn, or jumping across lobbies to snowboard in a circle to break boxes. Even one year and two regions later the core gameplay loop of running around in circles and mindlessly killing trash mobs has barely changed. The classes in the new game felt very incomplete at launch with some of them still having barely any depth, F2P players have it worse than before because they severely limited the access to the market, the open world is barren and quite frankly pointless, the story is extremely barebones with the latest chapter possibly being the worst story I've ever read in an MMORPG, and at launch there was so little content that you basically saw everything the game had to offer in a single weekend. NGS took those 9 years of experience and threw them in the trash. After 9 years PSO2 managed to have fleshed out classes, satisfying gameplay loops, "okay" gear progression and a lovable cast of story characters.
